I pressed E, but I usually don't pick up item.
I can't know what should I take care.
The trigger boxes seem to be dodgy on some computers.
Standing right up to the item, making sure you're looking at it should let you pick it up.
Hopefully that helps.

↓ This was what happened in my monitor(total 2 hours).
I don't know why my computer disordered this game.
but I enjoyed this game and this chaos. I was glad to repair the engine.
